Products – TEST ELEMENTS

With over 30 years of expertise, Novex is a recognized leader in the development and manufacturing of high-quality urethane belting, sheeting, and molded parts.

Our polyurethane belting and sheeting are designed to provide exceptional abrasion resistance. The following materials were subjected to the Taber Abrasion Test, which is commonly used to assess the wear resistance of materials under controlled conditions. In this case, the test was performed with H-18 abrasive wheels, applying a 1000 gram load, and running for 1000 cycles. The weight loss of each material was measured in milligrams per revolution (mg/rev), with the following results:

The Taber Abrasion Test results highlight a significant difference in wear resistance between two materials commonly used in industrial applications: RMA Grade II rubber (often used in rubber-covered conveyor belting and conveyor belt wiper/scraper rubber) and CU-85, Novex’s formulation of polyurethane.

CU-85 NOVITANE demonstrates 93% less weight loss compared to RMA Grade II rubber, which equates to 13.7 times greater abrasive wear resistance. While the service life of any elastomeric product depends on several factors beyond just abrasion, this remarkable durability translates directly into significant cost savings for our customers. By using CU-85, customers experience fewer replacements, reduced maintenance requirements, and increased uptime, all of which contribute to improved operational efficiency and lower overall costs.

Our specially formulated polyurethane compound is manufactured using a synchronous cast process, ensuring superior strength, reliability, and consistency. This unique manufacturing method allows the fabric to be completely saturated and penetrated by the polyurethane during the casting process, eliminating the need for plies—an innovation that greatly reduces common issues that lead to premature belt wear, tear and ultimately failure.

Splicing

Thanks to its thermoplastic-like characteristics, all styles of Novex conveyor belting can be quickly and easily spliced endlessly removing the need for mechanical fasteners. This can be done using either heat welding with a hot air gun and Novex’s specially formulated weld rod, or by curing the prepared belt ends in a water-cooled vulcanizer.
